Lisa Svensson Therapist and Couples Therapist in Munich Portrait

About Lisa Svensson

I have supported people in phases of change, crisis and reorientation for 17 years – with clarity, warmth and a fine sense for what resonates between the lines.

Born and raised in Sweden, I have lived in Munich-Schwabing since 2004 – with my German husband and our three children. My therapeutic attitude is strongly influenced by my Scandinavian origins: a natural clarity, fearlessness in dealing with difficult topics and a playful creativity that enables development without creating pressure.

My therapeutic competence is based on two pillars: a well-founded therapeutic training and many years of intensive work with clients. I was particularly influenced by my Gestalt therapy training with an exceptionally wise teacher, who gave me a deep sense of contact, timing and the fine perception of inner processes. This combination of craft clarity and experience forms the foundation of my work.

My work has been significantly deepened by my many years of Buddhist training. Through intensive meditation practice, I have developed a very fine sense for inner movements. I perceive where energy flows and where it stagnates, and can guide our joint work precisely to where change is possible and meaningful.

At the same time, my buddhist path has shaped me in the differentiated exploration of the human psyche down to its essence: our fundamentally healthy, vivid, wise and compassionate core. This understanding forms a silent but powerful background to my work.

For me, it is an exceptionally effective combination: the depth of Buddhist meditation training combined with well-founded, conventional therapeutic methods. It gives my work clarity, precision and a special effectiveness – often beyond what clients had expected.

In addition to my therapeutic work, I am also active as a Buddhist teacher and trainer for therapists.

German speaking impressions of my work

Attitude & working method

I deeply believe that every person has healthy, powerful inner resources – even when they seem hardly accessible at the moment. Our work is not about “repairing” you, but about getting you back in touch with your own inner strength and vitality.

I work individually and without rigid concepts. Every collaboration is as unique as the person sitting opposite me.
I listen attentively, ask targeted questions and support you in better understanding your inner situation and discovering new courses of action. Help for self-help is a central element: My goal is to strengthen your own competence.

Many clients particularly appreciate the freedom to determine the rhythm of the sessions themselves. I do not have any fixed programs or contractual obligations – you come as it suits you.

Who I work with

In my practice at Münchner Freiheit I accompany:

  • Individuals and couples
  • People with, among other things, fears, depressive phases or relationship issues
  • Professionals in stressful situations
  • Adolescents with school or relationship difficulties
  • People who are reorienting themselves or seeking more clarity for their path in life

Qualification & background

I work on the basis of a well-founded university degree, several training courses in the art of psychotherapeutic work and many years of therapeutic practice.

My original career path as a pharmacist with Swedish and German licenses still shapes my work today: scientifically sound, differentiated and with a deep understanding of physical and mental connections.

This background is complemented by:

  • a training as an alternative practitioner for psychotherapy
  • a five-year Gestalt therapy training
  • systemic couple and family therapy
  • Sex therapy methods such as Sexocorporel and systemic sex therapy
  • Many years of experience in meditation, mindfulness and Buddhist-psychological healing methods

Regular supervision and continuous training are a matter of course for me.
